Seven-day Grand Celebration of Vishwarang



Tagore International Literature and Arts Festival - Vishwarang was organized by Rabindranath Tagore University from 4-10 November at Minto Hall. Bharat Bhavan and Rabindra Bhawan of Bhopal, the function was inaugurated by the respected Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Lalji Tandon. It was attended by authors, artists and poets from all over the world along with teachers and students from various universities. Moreover, literature and art lovers of Bhopal also joined the function. Conversation and cultural presentations on Gratitude of Rabindranath Tagore were also conducted. More than 60 sessions of literature, art, cinema, Hindi, other Indian languages, met the authors. Poetry by transgenders etc. were also organized. Shows like International Mushaira, Meet the celebrity with Ashutosh Rana and Raghu Dixit Project made the event unforgettable




Pustak Yatra, a precursor event of Tagore International Literature and Arts Festival 2019, was a movement to bring back the tradition of reading and rekindle the love for literature among youth. It was inaugurated in Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh). Notable personalities from Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh), Khandwa (Madhya Pradesh), Vaishali (Patna) and Hazaribagh (Jharkhand) were present. Prominent Bollywood personalities — Rajat Kapoor, Piyush Mishra, Tigrnanshu Phulia, Vinay Pathak and Raghuveer Yadav made their presence felt. The ‘closing ceremony’ was on 22nd September. Pustak Yatra covered 50 locations and 13 districts of MP, 13 districts of Chhattisgarh, 12 districts of Bihar and 10 districts of Jharkhand. The event was supported by Vigyan Prasar and National Book Trust, New Delhi for this noble cause. Pustak Yatra travelled to various schools and a plethora of activities like interschool poetry, short story writing, painting competitions, kahani path by regional poets and waiters were conducted.   

A grand ceremony was held on 11th of October at New Delhi with the support of Kendra Sahitya Academy as an important activity of Vishwarang. During this event, more than 200-year-old storytelling tradition of approximately 600 writers were published in 18 sections and Vanmali Katha Samman was also organized during this grand occasion.   




The primary focus of the University is always on education but along with it the students are also encouraged to take some time out and devote it to follow their hobbies. Various clubs including drama, music, debate, etc. have been instituted at the University where the students can come together and practice or even learn new skills. A state level Cultural event is also organized every year.
